Leaving

This is a poem written by Kelly for her creative writing class and also published, with her picture, in the school magazine...the title is 'Leaving'....needless to say I tear up every time I think about her actually leaving in just a few months!

Bags packed, bed stripped, and passport ready. She was prepared to leave. Two years she’d been living in this same house, confined by her studies to the four walls of her room. She sighed; it was time to move on. College is a big step; she wondered if she was really ready for it. She dragged her luggage into the hallway and lifted it over her shoulder, once she left the comfort of home to live on her own, there could never be any real coming back. She would change. She closed the door without looking back, ready for whatever happened.

Spring Soccer

Last weekend was a busy & fun one! We had the 5 Gurel's (a family from Fayetteville on their way back 'home' to Xining China) stay for two nights and also had 5 soccer games for Kelly & Lindsey. Joseph, Abigail & Zoe were quite the troopers as they attended each of the games to cheer on their sisters! Thankfully the school location for the games was near an airport (for Joseph to see lots of planes), had a golf cart that the kids could sit in and also had excellent playgrounds for in between games & at half time! It is always so fun as a parent to watch your kids play sports and the girls especially enjoyed it as their team won the tournament!
